Always have your client fill out a waiver and consult form prior to assessing their lashes physically. This way you can assess their history and make sure they are even a suitable candidate for eyelash extensions. Discuss any chronic or eye related disorders, infections, procedures, medications or allergies.
After going over history and any possible ailments continue by assessing the eyes and eyelashes. Pay close attention to any signs of infection, inflammation, flaky skin, broken skin, abnormal discharge or gaps in the lashes – look at the eyes, eyelids and eyelashes.
Refuse service to clients showing any signs of eye related infections or have broken or irritated eye areas. Direct them to their physician to clear up any issues before having any eyelash service. Only apply extensions to healthy eyes and lashes.
Do not apply lashes to someone with a known cyanoacrylate allergy. A patch test can be done 48 hours prior to application if it is a concern. If your client has a history of allergies or other dermatological disorders associated with inflammation or skin breakdown, including but not limited to blepharitis, conjunctivitis, eczema, acne, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, rosacea, or seborrheic dermatitis it is recommended to do a patch test prior to the application.
